By Erica Johnston

UPDATED 2:40 a.m. Friday

A man who was shot in Silver Spring on Thursday night has died, Montgomery County police said early Friday. They identified the victim as Hamilton Luis Rabanales, 25, of the 2100 block of Dexter Avenue in Silver Spring. Police earlier had given his age as 26.

A police statement said that just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Rabanales was with a group of people outside a residence in the 10100 block of Georgia Avenue "when he was assaulted and collapsed." Police found "the victim suffering from a trauma." He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Detectives are investigating Rabanales's death as a homicide, the statement said.

A 26-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded Thursday night along Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.

Police were called to the 10100 block of Georgia Avenue about 8:30 p.m., where the victim was found with at least one gunshot wound, said Capt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman. The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition, Starks said.

It was not immediately clear whether the man was shot outside or in a building along Georgia Avenue. Officials released no other information Thursday night.

Rabanales, huh?

What are the odds that (1) he was illegal, and (2) he was shot by another illegal?

Or we could just blame the Tea Party, I guess.
