A Metro bus and a school bus collided Wednesday afternoon on a Northeast Washington street, sending five people to hospitals for check-ups, authorities said.

The accident happened near the intersection of 17th Street and Benning Road about 4:20 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman.
