Park Police motorcycle officer hit on I-395

A US Park Police motorcycle officer was injured Wednesday morning in a traffic accident on the Southwest Freeway near Seventh Street SW, authorities said.

The officer's suffered "pretty substantial injuries," although not life-threatening, said Sgt. David Schlosser, a Park Police spokesman. A helicopter had been summoned to airlift him to a hospital. A US Park Police spokesman said more details would be forthcoming shortly.

Motorcyclist struck on I-395
10:58 a.m.
D.C. Fire and EMS report that a motorcyclist has been struck on eastbound I-395 near 7th Street SW. A medevac helicopter is on the scene.

All Northbound lanes are reportedly closed, as are three southbound lanes.
