Update, 1:45 p.m.
Bad news for New York Avenue commuters. DC WASA reports the eastbound 1600 block of New York Ave. N.E. will continue to be closed for the evening rush hour due to repairs being made to the water main break at New York Ave and Montana Ave. N.E.
Drivers should use alternate routes, such as Rhode Island Avenue or DC 295.
Previous post:
A water main break is blocking outbound traffic on New York Avenue NE at Montana Avenue NE. Inbound traffic is still getting by but motorists should try to avoid the area.
Power to the traffic signals has been cut.
