Pepco issues reliability plan
Pepco, under fire after a succession of huge power outages during winter and summer storms, has released a plan that the utility company says will reduce the frequency and duration of outages for customers.
The total cost of what Pepco calls its reliability plan, which is expected to be implemented over five years, is $256.3 million.
The plan includes more tree trimming, replacing some underground cables and modifying some substation.
The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing on Pepco's reliability 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30, on the third floor of the Montgomery County Council’s Stella Werner Office Building, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville..

Trim he trees, put the electric lines under ground, invest in renewable energy sources like solar and wind, and keep the pressure on PEPCO and the other abusive utility companies. I don't care how much the tree huggers whine- maybe they will stop whining if a tree falls on their house or car, but I really don't care.Renewable energy helps free us from the robber -baron utility companies, and promotes homeland security.

Forget "trimming" trees; where I live the power lines actual disappear (engulfed)into the trees in at least three points. I refuse to believe that there is any regulation that has prevented trimming in those spots; Pepco simply hasn't done ANY management in that area at all.

Along Goldsboro Road at the country club, vines completely cover the wires and the pole leans at a 20-degree angle. Similar along MacArthur Blvd. Just a matter of time before these come crashing down
