Phillips Collection launches fund drive
The Phillips Collection is starting a micro-donation drive to fund repairs to its historic Phillips House, which was damaged in a fire last week.
The campaign announced Thursday allows supporters to give either $5 or $10 by text message through the end of the year.
Curators say no artwork was damaged in the fire that broke out on the roof during construction Sept. 2. There was significant damage, though, on the upper floors of the building that houses museum offices. That section is still closed.
No one was injured in the fire.
The museum has reopened most of its galleries, except for those in the Phillips House.
To make a $5 donation, supporters can text "phillips5" to 20222. To make a $10 donation, they can text "phillips10" to 20222.
