Red Line delayed toward Shady Grove

By Washington Post Editors

6:47 p.m. Update: Metro says the problem has been resolved. However, it may take some time for normal service to resume. Expect platforms -- and trains -- to be crowded.

And keep in mind that maintenance work on the Red Line is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. tonight, Once that starts you'll need to add at least an extra hour an hour to your travel time between Friendship Heights and Medical Center stations.

Original post: Metrorail is reporting a Red Line disruption involving a malfunction outside the Rhode Island Avenue station that is causing delays in the direction of Shady Grove.
