Remembering Pearl Harbor
A wreath laying ceremony will be held Tuesday at the United States Navy Memorial in the District to commemorate the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Rear Adm. Kleber S. Masterson, Jr., USN (Ret) will speak at the ceremony. He is the son of the late Vice Adm. Kleber S. Masterson, Sr., who was a crew member of the USS Arizona when it was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He was on shore during the attack and watched the Arizona burn and sink.
The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the Naval Heritage Center, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. It is free and open to the public.
There will also be an event honoring Pearl Harbor survivors at the National World War II Memorial in Washington at 1:53 p.m., the moment of the attack.
Veterans who survived the Pearl Harbor attack will be on hand to participate in the ceremony.
