Reward offered in opossum, cat stoning

By Washington Post editors

The Washington Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest conviction of those involved in the stoning of an opossum and her 10 babies in April, and a cat in May.

The group said the opossum and her babies, just days old, were found stoned to death in an alley behind 1026 16th St. Northeast D.C. A month later a cat was found stoned to death in the 200 block of Maryland Avenue NE.

To report information contact the Humane Society at 202-BE-HUMANE

Whoever committed this crime should be stoned him or herself.

There are too many sick people in this city.

Research has shown that people (kids) who torture animals tend to exhibit violent, anti-social behavior as adults. They need to be identified and stopped now before they move on to bigger targets.

Sick, crazy people. The whole world would be better off without them.

The kids that did this will be dead or in jail by the time they're 20 years old.

The sooner this happens, the better.

People who mistreat and torture animals are deficient personalities who eventually move on to mistreat and often kill humans.

The world would be better off without them. Since they are so sick, put them out off their misery.

Years ago, a friend and I caught a clown beating a dog with a stick. After we gave him a taste of hisd own medicine, he cried like a little b....

Money talks, so anyone inclined to do so should contribute to the reward amount, increasing the chance that someone will out the loser(s) who did this. And to the poster who denigrates opossums, get educated. They are harmless and are afraid of humans and sadly, were sitting ducks for these wimps to torture to death. Wildlife has no chance, along with domestic pets. It is best to keep your pets indoors, especially in lowlife DC neighborhoods.

But possum? That's doing us a favor. If you ever had one hiss at you like you owe IT money, you know what I mean...

Serial killer in training. If he's caught, cut off his hands.

Like Dylan said, "Everybody must get stoned." Even 'possums.

ceefer66,
Did you and your friend beat up the clown because his oversized shoes made it difficult for him to run away? Did his makeup come off an your hands while you were beating him? Did the fake nose absorb any of the impact of the punches?
Did he do any ninja kicks because he had the oversized pants on?
I always HATED Ronald McDonald and wanted to kick his butt...

The possum was stoned for being in public without her burka.

The people who support the possum stoning should be tracked down and investigated as suspects. Even if you consider an animal a pest, it's a felony to kill that animal in an inhumane manner.

VirginiaDad? It’s Felony to kill animal in an inhumane manner?? Yeah, OK. Like those snapping mouse traps and those sticky pads for rats. I guess all supermarkets are endorsing felonious behavior. What law references are you reading? LOL!

As other posters mentioned these are murderers in training. They will graduate to human targets eventually. Killing an game animal for meat is totally different than killing a non-game animal for sick pleasure. I believe these perps when caught should wear head and eye protection and have a dozen or so peers stone their bodies in a dark ally to give them a taste of what they subjected these animals to in their last minutes on earth.
