SEIU backs D.C. council members
The Service Employees International Union, which says it represents 40,000 workers in the Washington region, announced Monday that it is endorsing all four of the five D.C. council members up for reelection this year, the D.C. Wire reports.
They did not endorse anyone in Ward 3. Mary M Cheh (D-Ward 3) is running unopposed in Democratic primary.
SEIU has not yet endorsed anyone in the D.C. mayor's race, but many unions are expected to line up behind Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray (D) in his battle against incumbent Adrian M. Fenty (D).
