Stolen car crashes in U Street area

By Erica Johnston

The driver of a stolen car crashed into a park car Wednesday afternoon in the heart of a busy U Street corridor in Northwest Washington, authorities said.

No injuries were reported, but one person was arrested after the stolen car crashed into a parked vehicle near 14th and U streets about 6 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman. Ambulance crews evaluated several people at the scene of the crash but none were transported, said Pete Piringer, a fire and emergency services department spokesman.

Police had one person in custody who was arrested in an alley in the 1300 block of U street, after reportedly fleeing the stolen car, authorities said.
