Suspicious package at federal courthouse
Update, 7:25 p.m.:
The scene has been cleared at the U.S. District Courthouse in Washington. D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says crews had been investigating a report of white powder found in an envelope that was sent to the courthouse mailroom.But nothing suspsicious was found.
Earlier:
D.C. fire and emergency services hazmat units were called to investigate a suspicious package in the mailroom of the U.S. District Courthouse in Northwest Washington late Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Authorities arrived at the courthouse in the 300 block of Constitution Avenue about 5:30 p.m. It was not immediately clear what specifically officials were investigating.
