FBI says package at 19th St. not a bomb

The FBI says the suspicious package at 19th and F streets NW contained what looked like a pipe bomb, but it was not a bomb.

Investigators said they are looking into whether someone intentionally arranged the package to look like an explosive device.

Streets will remain closed for another half hour.

Suspicious package in NW not hazardous

D.C. Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said police have determined "there is no hazardous material found" at 19th and F streets NW, however District police and fire personnel remain on the scene to investigate. Nearby streets remain closed.

Patrol officers found a suspicious package about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Crump, who added that police would have more information later.

D.C. Fire and EMS say they are assisting the police department as they investigate a suspicious package is at 19th and F St. NW.

Expect continuing street closures.
