Suspicious package on Capitol Hill

Updated, 10:27 p.m.: The situation has been cleared.

D.C. police were investigating a suspicious package Thursday evening on Capitol Hill after a laptop computer was left on a sidewalk, officials said.

Police explosive ordnance technicians received a call about the device at 9th and C streets SE about 6 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman.
