Thieves target Rock Creek neighborhood
Extra police officers are patrolling the Rock Creek area trying to find thieves who camp in the woods as they wait to break into houses, WJLA reports.
It is a quiet little neighborhood with streets that dead end into scenic Rock Creek Park. But the park, according to people, who live here has been the scene of trouble.
Rick Malone lives on one of these streets along 16th Street Heights. His house backs up to the woods and last week, he says, he saw a young man come out of those woods and look into several cars on his block.
Police believe the criminals have been watching residents from the woods and then picking the right time to strike.
