Monument to offer late-night views

By Washington Post editors

The National Park Service is extending hours at the Washington Monument during the busy summer season.

Visitors can tour the monument's 500-foot observation level until 10 p.m. The extended hours began Monday and will continue through Labor Day.

Free time-stamped tickets are still required. Normally the monument closes at 5 p.m.

Visitors can order tickets in advance for a service fee of $1.50 per ticket.
