By Eric Athas

A 63-year-old woman died Tuesday morning after a late night fire at a senior apartment house in Southwest, authorities said.

D.C. Fire and EMS was called to a fire at the Greenleaf Senior Apartments on Delaware Avenue SW about 11:20 p.m. Monday. They found a woman in a fourth floor apartment with burns and suffering from smoke inhalation. The woman was taken to Washington Hospital Center where she later died, said fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.

The fire was contained to the apartment and no other injuries were reported.
