Dominion: Power to be restored by tonight
Updated, 4:46 p.m.
Dominion Virginia Power expects to have power restored to nearly all of its customers by tonight after Thursday's heavy storms knocked out electricity across the D.C. area, a utility spokesman said. Nearly all of the remaining 5,400 outages are in the Alexandria and Arlington area.
"The only people that won't be restored by tonight are a few clusters in the hardest hit areas," said Dan Genest, a Dominion spokesman.
Outages have declined significantly since Thursday's storm knocked out nearly 100,000 across the region. Here are the latest figures:
Dominion Power: 5,025
Pepco: 29
BG&E: 23
