Dulles testing to produce explosion-like noises
Residents, drivers and office workers in the area of Tysons Corner probably will hear a series of loud, explosion-like noises Tuesday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Contractors working on the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project will be performing a series of structural integrity tests on caissons along the northwest side of Route 123.
The tests are the first of three sets to be performed over the next two weeks. The next is tentatively slated to occur Friday. The third test is scheduled for Monday.
A similar test was completed in the same area Jan. 7.
Flaggers and police will be in place to stop traffic from entering adjacent roads during the short testing period.
