College Park to install security cameras
A network of surveillance cameras in College Park will be activated in the next few days in an attempt to reduce crime in neighborhoods near the University of Maryland, WTOP reports.
College Park officials will soon be able to power up 15 cameras capable of tilting, panning, zooming and recording. The camera system will focus on the Old Town section of College Park and will be monitored by the University of Maryland police.
The move comes just a little over a week after four people, including three University of Maryland students, were stabbed outside a College Park bar.

Of course, once the cops move-in, I'm sure the camera will experience "technical difficulties". Can't show the JBTs going wild.

All that is OK, just remember that those students come from all over the country and most get involved in activities that exceed the little small farm and hick towns they come from. Just keep those cameras and the blue-eyed bumpkins out of our quite community of Lakeland. They're considered trepassing and are open for the hunt.

They have had several of these camera in CP for years. The police hardly ever use them to solve crimes.

Someone broke into my car in my driveway in college park while on camera...The PG county cops did nothing and will most likely continue to do nothing about the crime around campus unless it involves what they call "rioting."

Cameras work well...for identifying the perp afterwards.
Deterrent value is pretty much zilch.
