HoCo. schools chief on medical leave
Sydney Cousin, superintendent of Howard County public schools, has taken indefinite medical leave from the school system, spokeswoman Patti Caplan said Wednesday night, according to the Columbia Flyer.
Chief Academic Officer Linda Wise, Chief Financial Officer Raymond Brown and Chief Operating Officer Theresa Alban will carry out Cousin's day-to-day duties, reporting to Chief of Staff Mamie Perkins, Caplan said. The school system is without a deputy superintendent, who would normally assume Cousin’s responsibilities in such a situation.
The school system would not release details of Cousin’s condition at the request of his family, Caplan said.
