Maryland names 'Teacher of the Year'
Michelle Shearer, a chemistry teacher at Urbana High School in Frederick County has been named Maryland's Teacher of the Year, the Frederick News-Post reports.
Shearer, 37, has a bachelor's degree from Princeton and a master's degree in deaf education from McDaniel College.
"Ms. Shearer has proven to be a leader in our children's educational journey because she takes the time to explore the best method of learning for each student by building individual relationships with them in her classroom," State Superintendent of Schools Nancy S. Grasmick said in a news release.
