More community gardens in MoCo?
The Montgomery County Department of Parks is teaming up with Montgomery County Public Schools to open three new community gardens on school system property, officials said Monday.
The Department of Parks has been operating a community garden program since May 2009 and parks officials hope to open the three new gardens by Spring 2011. Parks and school staff will hold three public meetings this fall to discuss potential garden sites.
Officials said more than 300 gardeners use the four community gardens in place -- Sligo Mill Overlook Community Garden, Briggs Chaney Community Garden, Bradley Park Community Garden and South Germantown Recreational Park Community Garden.
Here's a schedule of the meetings planned:
