Emergency drills at Dulles today
Airport officials say there will be an emergency preparedness exercise at Dulles International Airport.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is conducting drills at Dulles International Airport from 9 a.m. until noon, officials said.
As part of the drill, the agency will simulate an aircraft accident to test the emergency operations plan at Dulles. The exercise is also designed to give emergency response crews hands-on training.
Officials say there will be many emergency vehicles around Routes 28 and 50 near the airport, and smoke may be visible. But they say the exercise will not affect normal airport operations.
