Ex-cheerleader's boyfriend arrested

By Associated Press

The former boyfriend of a missing Las Vegas Strip burlesque dancer and former Redskins cheerleader has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Jason Griffith, 32, was booked Saturday in the case involving the disappearance of Deborah Flores-Narvaez, Las Vegas police said. He was being held without bail in the Clark County Detention Center.

Police spokesman Bill Cassell declined to comment on the case, including whether Flores-Narvaez's body has been found. He said investigators would release other details about the case at a news conference scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.

Flores-Narvaez's sister, Celeste Flores-Narvaez, of Atlanta, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The 31-year-old Deborah Flores-Narvaez was reported missing Dec. 14 after she didn't show up for a rehearsal of “Fantasy,” the nightly burlesque show at the Luxor hotel and casino where she worked.

She reportedly was last seen on Dec. 12 by Griffith, who originally was not named as a suspect by police.

Flores-Narvaez and Griffith had been dating for about a year when police responded to a domestic violence call involving the couple on Oct. 22. Flores-Narvaez told police that he beat her while she was pregnant with his child. Griffith told police the couple had been in an argument but denied hitting her.

Flores-Narvaez moved to Las Vegas to become a dancer. She previously lived in Maryland, where she served as an ambassador for the Washington Redskins in 2007, a non-performing position that sent her into the community.

Said he did it the first time I saw this story. She went missing two days before she was to testify against him. Case closed

While I am very sorry for this family, I wish the media would stop representing this woman as a saint. Redskins cheerleader does not = angel. The harsh reality is she was a stripper and had no problem participating in porn pictures. If you live in that world you are not going to be associating with the best of people.

The only thing that sells media is sensationalism and the bleeding heart liberal media does no stories on the ordinary Jane/Joe that works hard, obeys the law and tries to get ahead. However the scumbag, low-life’s and cheating people who are semi-celebs get the attention and sympathy. This is why I no longer get the newspaper as they are all trying to gain sympathy for some moron that does the dumbest things and receives sympathy for their actions. If natural selection were the way people advanced in life there would be a lot less moronic people in this world as well as less idiot people writing or reporting about it.

To ReindeerDippin: I don't think the newspaper story represented her to be a saint. The HARSH REALITY is this woman was working for a living: a stripper, dancer, etc. So what. Does that make her less a human being? NOT!! AND THE HARSH REALITY IS NO ONE DESERVES TO BE BEATEN AND CERTAINLY DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE MURDERED. AND who in the heck are you to judge a person you have never met. From what I have read in the paper she was a lovely person and well liked. So, put away your halo and stop condemning persons you do not know.

Duh! Deborah Flores-Narvaez was carrying his child, and he did not want that baby. Another Ray Caruth solution not completly thought out that went bad.

wow there are a lot of angry folks on here. before you judge let it be known that debbie was a law student from taking grad courses at umb and towson.
not every female in las vegas who is sexy is a stripper. she is a dancer and doggone good at it. she was not killed by some kook off the streets but by an irresponsible ex boyfriend who is also in the dancing business.
she got into dancing because thats what made her feel alive. she made a decision to follow her dreams over security. entertainment and joy through others was what fulfilled her. so all of you critics, shut your mouths. her decisions may have cost her her life, but i bet she's lived a much wholesome life than most of her ugly, negative critics who'd never know what following dreams ever meant.
