Ex-Sidwell Friends teacher pleads guilty
A former teacher at Sidwell Friends School has pleaded guilty to one count of child sex abuse, one of his attorneys said.
Robert A. “Pete” Peterson, a former social studies teacher at the school, entered the plea Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court, said Barry Helfand, who has represented him with David Martella.
Helfand said Friday that Peterson will be required to register, and fulfill other conditions, but that with the approval of the state and the victim's family no jail time will be imposed.
