More commuter parking in Springfield?

By Washington Post editors

Fairfax County officials have purchased a vacant Circuit City building in Springfield and plan to knock the building down to construct commuter parking that would open in late 2010 or early 2011, The Washington Business Journal reports.

The 118,000-square-foot property, located at 7039 Old Keene Mill Road, would serve several Metrobus and Fairfax Connector routes. According to county tax assessment record, the county paid $4.5 million for the property, which it purchased last month from D.C.-based Monument Realty.
