Family injured in Howard crash

Four people, including two children have been hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning near Cooksville, Howard County police said.

Police said the driver of a Honda Civic was on Monticello Drive turning left onto southbound Maryland 97 when the vehicle was struck by a Jeep Liberty traveling north about 8:48 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the Honda, Stacie Kay Lucero, 50, of Cooksville, was transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center in critical condition. The front passenger in the Honda, John David Lucero, 43, also of Cooksville, was transported to Johns Hopkins with injuries that were not life-threatening. Two children riding in the back seat, ages 3 and 5, were also transported to Johns Hopkins with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Jeep, Bret Dwayne Hamrick, 48, of Hampstead, was not hurt. Authorities are investigating the crash.
