Gaithersburg woman treated after fire
A Montgomery County fire official says one woman has been treated for smoke inhalation after a morning blaze in the kitchen of her Gaithersburg apartment.
County fire department spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says a smoke alarm wakened the woman, who called 911 about 7 a.m. Friday. He says the fire in the ground floor unit of a building on Quince Orchard Boulevard was quickly extinguished, and caused about $100,000 in damage.
The woman was treated at a hospital and her injuries were not serious.
Fire investigators say the fire was accidental and started in an area of the kitchen with several small appliances. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
