Girls reported missing turn themselves in

By Washington Post editors

Three girls who had been reported missing since Wednesday have turned themselves in to police, according to NBC4.

Nathaly Flores, Allison Marroquin and Jocelyn Perdomo were at the Safeway at Countryside Shopping in Sterling, Va. early Tuesday when they walked over to a deputy sitting in his cruiser and turned themselves in.

Police said they were not harmed.

The girls, 13 and 14, were last seen being dropped off at Smart's Mill Middle School where they were enrolled.

So I guess no volent gang took them , as their parents thought. But my money says they were with a gang of their own choosing. Let's see if they now turn up pregnant in the near future.

Another attempt to be stars in some god-awful reality show?

So cynical we have become.

How about being thankful they are home unharmed? Could be they went off on a lark. 13 & 14 year olds have been known to do things like that.

Hanging out at the Sterling Safeway, woo hoo! Running away is so fun and glamorous.

I'm with riverrunner1.
Rather than adopt a mocking mindset, we adults should be be mindful of just how disoriented and confused adolescents are. Exploring freedoms and pushing boundaries while rebelling against parental and societal authority may be par for the course, but the world has become much more dangerous, especially for young girls. I'm happy they eventually acted to save themselves. It took courage, and it should be reinforced.
