Giving, getting and getting away

Yes Virginia, Santa sometimes wears a different kind of uniform. A Northwest woman found that out this week when a Department of Public works employee surprised her with a Christmas tree.

Many people will make their getaway for the holidays on Thursday and Friday. But those last minute travelers could face the cursed wintry mix.

And retailers are finding that there's a new normal to the holiday shopping season.

In other news Thursday morning, WJLA is reporting that former Washington Redskin Lavar Arrington's Largo restaurant has been closed.

Donations to the Salvation Army in the D.C. area are down and the organization is $400,000 behind its fundraising goal, according to a report by Fox5.

The Examiner reports that many D.C. medical clinics are not licensed and have not been inspected by the health department.
