Pie shakes, car-free days: D.C. area blogs
Happy Monday. It's always fun to take a spin through the D.C. blogosphere. I'm almost always amused and sometimes even shocked (you should see the posts that don't make this roundup.) Today is no exception. I learned about the "Pie Shake" -- but don't know whether I want to try it at home. Also, who said liberal and fine arts majors have all the fun? We've got some PhD candidates in science who can dance. Read on.
Surprising Science has video from the annual “Dance Your PhD” contest. Yes, you read that correctly. Click to see a dance routine to “Selection of a DNA aptamer for homocysteine using systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment.”
Not sure whether I should be horrified or whether I should dash home to whip one of these right up in my blender. Endless Simmer introduces us to the “Pie Shake.” That’s right, slice of pie + ice cream + blender = ??
The WashCycle reminds us that Wednesday is Car-Free Day. Think about taking public transportation or even walking to work (if you live close enough)
The good folks at Penn Quarter Living bring us this whimsical window display from a shop on Pennsylvania Avenue.
All Life is Local has some fashion tips for the politically active D.C. traveler. Next time you’re out of town, consider donning one of these babies.
A happy blogiversary to Tickle the Wire, a blog by my former Post colleague Allan Lengel that chronicles news in the federal law enforcement world.
That's it for today. I hope you had as much fun with today's collection of posts as I did. Suggestions? Thoughts? Comments? Post below -- or send me an e-mail. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
