More rest for the weary? D.C. blogs

Good afternoon. Don't know about your office, but mine is full of folks suffering from Primary Election Day hangovers. Newspaper people are deadline driven and when the deadline arrives and there's still no answer, it's more stressful than you know. But check out Post Local to see what a fabulous job everyone did. Looks like lots of D.C.-area bloggers were also up late awaiting results. Let them (and us) know you appreciate their hard work, by clicking or posting a comment. In the meantime, we've got several non-election related posts, including one about a tribute to a local civic activist and, ahem, a tribute to the 80's. Read on.

My feet are killing me. After a long day touring the monuments (or standing in line for your Georgetown Cupcake) wouldn’t be nice to be able to sit for a bit? Greater Greater Washington has read our minds. Check out this post: D.C. needs more benches.

From the files of "You learn something new every day," Prince of Petworth stumbles across one of his favorite spots Barthodi Park, tucked behind the Capitol building and the Botanical Gardens greenhouse.

Wash Cycle reports that the Rockville City Council has voted to name the city’s Millennium Trail in honor of civic activist Carl Henn, who died in late July after being struck by lightning.

This 'I love this 80’s' themed cake via So Good makes me smile. Of course now I’m going to have the theme from “Ghostbusters” playing in my head all day.

Do you know about “phantom gains?” After reading this you will. From Dual Income No Kids Finance, we have a post on the pros and cons of investing in mutual funds.

That's it for today. Thanks for reading and have a great evening. Know of a great blog that I'm missing? Message me at aratanil@washpost.com.
