A foodie challenge? 5 great area blogs
Good afternoon. If you haven't been outside, you need to go outside right now. Well, maybe not NOW -- but definitely after you finish reading this blog post. Weather like this was meant to be enjoyed -- just like a good blog post. So what are folks talking about today in the D.C. area blogosphere? Fashion for men and something special for the troops. One of our favorite food blogs has an intriguing question for foodies (and a prize for the best answer.) Read on.
I love this flow chart of conversations college students will have during new student orientation from Vox Populi. Actually, a few substitutions and this is the conversation matrix you’ll be following at every get-to-know-you event you’ll ever attend.
If you're handy with the needles (or hooks), here's your chance to do something nice for the troops. The Operation Gratitude blog has issued a call for knitted/crochets scarves or hats to be sent to the troops. Alexandria's Fibre Space yarn shop is offering a discount on yarn for folks interested in making a scarf or hat for the project.
Eat More, Drink More has a question for you: “If you could only smell like one food (or dish) for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?” This isn’t just a brain exercise. The winning response will get a handy award for their stomach as well. Best answer wins a $40 Groupon to iGourmet.
For you gentlemen, the Capital Fashionista reminds us of a fashion event this Saturday, Aug. 28. It’s “ … an exhibition and sale of vintage 20th century, Italian men’s neckwear curated by Michael Joyner” of First Street Style.
If you live on the Hill and would like to add a splash of color to your yard, The Hill is Home says you’re in luck. The Capital Hill Gardening Club is sponsoring a free bulb giveaway. You’ll need to submit a plan for how you’d use the bulbs – but if it’s approved, you’ll be able to sit back and enjoy the flowers.
That's it for today. Thanks for reading and if you haven't -- go outside. It's lovely. Could be a nice evening for drinks at an outdoor cafe or maybe some ice cream? I'll be back Monday with more great posts from D.C.-area bloggers. Don't forget -- you can see what folks are blogging about in your neighborhood. Just check out The Washington Post's Local Blog directory.
