In today's selection of D.C. area blogs -- learn how you can get a free shuttle ride to the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum, be kind to trees and learn about the lesser-known members of the berry family. Gooseberry anyone?

Trees are NOT billboards, say the folks at Tree Speak, the blog of the Casey Trees program. Tree Speak urges folks to think twice before stringing lights or posting signs on trees.

Congress Heights on the Rise highlights a fabulous free service for folks curious about the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum. Now through Labor Day, Shuttle Anacostia will offer free weekend round-trip rides from the National Mall to the Anacostia Community Museum. The route includes stops at the National Air and Space Museum, the Anacostia Metro station and the historic Frederick Douglass home.

14th and You has the scoop on development in Shaw. Projects slated to break ground include the O Street Market Project, the Renaissance Project (formerly Broadcast Center One) and the refurbishment of the Howard Theater.
