Lori's A.M. Buzz: Remember your veterans
Good morning. Looks like another lovely day on tap -- once we get past the early morning chill. The Capital Weather Gang says it will be breezy, with temperatures in the upper 50s --- a perfect day to honor U.S. veterans.
We're also honored to have your stories, in your own words, in a special photo-essay presentation on PostLocal. You can share your tributes to a veteran who's touched your life and read others' stories too.
We'll also have scenes from Arlington National Cemetery later today, and the story of a group of Vietnam veterans gathering for the first time in 42 years.
Also worth noting: Fox 5 reports that George Washington University students are planning a counter protest at 8 a.m. ; members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas, known for protesting at military funerals, are coming to the campus because one of its members was asked to sign a petition in support of gay marriage. An off-duty D.C. officer exchanged gunfire with a robber in Greenbelt Wednesday night, WUSA 9 reports. And eight patrons of Ibiza nightclub say they were held against their will -- handcuffed -- over a disputed bill, Fox 5 reports. A lawsuit has been filed.
And now for a brief moment of self-promotion. Post education writer Jenna Johnson's Campus Overload goes live. Jenna will be hosting a 1 p.m. chat to answer your questions about life on campus -- and life off campus, too. Stressed by the SAT? Curious about the latest higher ed trends? Need some advice for dealing with your roommate? Just ask.
We're also launching American Mosaic, a video chat where immigrants will tell their stories. Join the talk at noon.
Stay with Postlocal.com throughout the day for continuing coverage of Veterans Day events and all the latest news.
