When it rains it pours. We hope some good luck will start pouring down on Scott Magnuson, one of the owners of the Argonaut bar. Then on Friday, someone stole his car.
Shark Alert! Chompy has returned to downtown Silver Spring. Silver Spring Singular has the scoop (and photo!).
It’ll be another four years until the next one, so we should enjoy the festivities while we can. Borderstan offers this photo gallery of fans in Dupont celebrating Spain’s World Cup victory on Sunday. (OMG, is that my boss?!)
Wild and Crazy Pearl offers some beer facts for the connoisseur: Among the factoids: Guinness has fewer calories than a similarly sized serving of skim milk. Who knew?
The Beyond Bread blog remembers this very special man who made a big difference in the lives of many D.C. area residents. Ted Pringle, food and clothing director for Bread for the City, died last week. A personal note: I met Ted in 2008, when I was working on an article about the steps that local food banks were taking to provide more nutritious offerings to their clients. He was a wonderful, warm person. Ted had taken the very bold step of actually turning away some food donations because they were too high in salt or fat. Ultimately, many area nonprofits followed Bread for the City’s model.
That's it. Thanks for reading, and, remember, you can send us your thoughts on can't-miss D.C. area blogs.
