Good afternoon. Feels a little Groundhog Day-ish, what with another severe thunderstorm watch in place until 10 p.m. tonight. I believe I may have glanced at something that said one-inch hail, but I've decided to ignore it for the time being. In today's selection of blog posts, we've got some handy advice for those forced to ride their bikes in inclement weather. ReadySetDC is also announcing the results of its effort to make tourists look less tacky. Read on!

Commuting by bicycle in the rain. It’s not something you like to do, but with what seems like a severe thunderstorm warning hitting us every other day, some folks may have no choice. That’s why the City Fix DC is here. The blog offers these tips for riding your bike in the rain.

We're not Malibu or Hollywood, but D.C. has a charm all of its own. That's why The Hill is Home is here to offer six reasons why celebrities should consider living on Capitol Hill . Reason No. 1? It’ll make you smarter.

Sweating the Big Stuff has a smart piece of financial advice. He says we shouldn't make purchases to encourage good behavior (i.e. new workout clothes to make exercising more fashionable and thus fun). Rather, we should use purchases to reward good behavior (i.e. a new workout outfit after we've gone to the gym consistently for three months.) Here's his most excellent rationale.

Bette-looking D.C. tourists? ReadySetDC announces the winner of its design-a-new-official-DC-tourist-T-shirt-contest. Much better than those "I (heart) D.C." numbers. The post includes a chat with the winning artist, Alex Slater.

The Triangle is looking for volunteers to help with a new neighborhood restaurant event . “Taste of the Triangle” will take place Aug. 21 and will showcase area restaurants.

That's it for today. Thanks for reading and have a great day. We'll be back tomorrow afternoon with more intriguing posts from the D.C.-area blogosphere.
