Zombie philanthropy? D.C.'s blogs

Good afternoon. Hope you're having a good day. Excitement is building in the D.C.-area blogosphere around Saturday's Silver Spring Zombie Walk. We've got some details below -- as well as a nice charitable twist to the walk. All Life is Local introduces us to a new phrase taking root in NIMBY world. And bacon lovers may have something to smile about.
This is the weekend folks. Time to don your best “undead” ensemble. Silver Spring Singular reminds us that this Saturday is the annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk. Another reason to walk (or watch) the ‘zombies’ in action:Thayer Avenue reports that proceeds from T-shirt sales will be donated to the Children’s Inn at NIH. A little zombie philanthropy.
All Life is Local writes about what he suspects is a new code phrase for those who oppose new development in their neighborhoods. Ever heard the phrase, “neighborhood serving retail stores?” Apparently, it's surfaced quite a lot in Cleveland Park.
A fun graphic from Mashable on the “Evolution of the Geek.” Am still trying to figure out which type of geek I am.
Extraordinary Observations offers his thoughts – the good, the bad and the ugly -- on the new Capital Bikeshare program.
Via Dining in D.C. Attention bacon lovers: in case you procrastinated, you’ll be happy to know that Restaurant 3’s “Bacon Week” has been extended through Oct. 23.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day. Tomorrow is supposed to be another nice fall day -- a little cooler but still nice. I'll be back again Friday with more updates and more great posts from D.C.-area bloggers.
