Man charged in death of pet lizard
A D.C. man who threw his son's pet lizard across the street and fatally injured it was arrested for animal cruelty this week, police officials reported.
Nelson Privado spent a day in jail Wednesday following the Oct. 9 incident, which was reported by his family. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
“The lizard tried to bite me,” Privado said by telephone Friday night. “I was afraid.” The pet belonged to his 15-year old son, an “an animal lover” with aspirations to become a veterinarian, he said. It did not have a name, Privado said, but he thought it was a species native to the Morocco.
If convicted, animal cruelty carries a punishment of up to 180 days of jail time or a fine of up to $250 or both, police said.

Next, guys or gals who fish with live bait will be arrested for worm impalement. Yeah, the Dad is an idiot, but no he should not face criminal charges for lizard abuse, unless of course he spends too much time in the bathroom
