Man dies in crash off Maryland Ave. NE

A 26-year-old Washington man died Friday after his car left Maryland Avenue NE and struck a pole, D.C. police said.
They said Mack Maxfield of Southeast Washington was driving northeast on Maryland Avenue about 5:45 p.m. when his car climbed a curb at 21st Street NE, in a neighborhood south of the National Arboretum.
Police said they and the medical examiner's office are trying to determine the cause of the crash and the cause of death.
