Manslaughter plea in Frostburg slaying
A former student who claimed self-defense in the fatal shooting of a Frostburg State University basketball player from Waldorf has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
Twenty-one-year-old Tyrone Hall of Glen Burnie entered the plea Friday afternoon after the jury sent a note indicating it was having difficulty reaching a decision.
He shot and killed Brandon Carroll and wounded teammate Ellis Hartridge Jr. of Washington in April.
Hall also pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in the wounding of Hartridge.
Hall agreed to a possible maximum sentence of eight years in prison.
