Man dies in Montgomery County crash

By Erica Johnston

Update, 8:35 p.m.:

A 33-year-old man died Thursday night after the SUV he was riding in struck a tree in the Laytonsville area of Montgomery County, authorities said.

A man was critically injured Thursday and two other people were seriously injured when an SUV struck a tree in the Laytonsville area. The accident forced authorities to shut down Georgia Avenue for hours.

The vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, crashed in the 21500 block of Georgia Avenue about 5:30 p.m., said Officer Melanie Brenner, a spokeswoman for the Montgomery County police.

The critically injured man was taken to Montgomery General Hospital.

The driver, a woman in her 40s, also suffered injuries described as potentially life threatening, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for the county fire department. Another passenger, a man, suffered injuries not believed to be life threatening, Garcia said. They were both taken to Suburban Hospital.

Thursday? May 11 was a Tuesday in my calendar, guys. Doesn't anyone read this stuff before they post it? Or are they the same can't-code-straight gang that redesigned the home page?

FYI, WaPo, the area you describe is nowhere near Laytonsville. It's reporting and writing like this that explains why I no longer subscribe to the Post.
