1 dead, 3 hurt in Md. fire
One man is dead and three others were taken to hospitals after a house fire in Brunswick.
Brunswick Volunteer Fire Co. Assistant Chief George Houser says state fire investigators determined that a faulty chimney started the blaze in the home on C Street on Saturday night.
Frederick County officials say a Brunswick police officer and another person were injured as they searched the home for a resident. The police officer was flown Washington Hospital Center for treatment of smoke inhalation. One firefighter and the person who helped search the home were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Houser says the man who killed was believed to be at home by himself when the fire broke out. His name has not been released. Damage to the home is estimated to be more than $100,000.
