19-year-old struck, killed by train in Md.
A 19-year-old man who was walking on railroad tracks in Laurel was struck and killed early Friday, police said.
Gerson Ambrocio-Escobar, of Laurel, was with two other young males when a CSX freight train sped toward them about 12 a.m., police said. Ambrocio-Escobar was struck in the back. His companions were able to jump clear.
Ambrocio-Escobar was flown by helicopter to the Baltimore Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The trio were intoxicated said Jim Collins, a spokesman for the Laurel Police Department. An investigation in ongoing.

How many pieces was he in when they flew him out? Usually when someone is hit by a train, they have to scooped up by a shovel.

Too drunk to hear the train coming or too stupid to jump off the track? Survival of the fitest.

Wapo, if you're not going to moderate comments on a story that involves a death, you should not allow comments for that story.

Where's a moderator for these sick comments?!?

The train was the instrument of his death, what killed him was stupidity.

I'm a Wapo moderator -- and I perceive nothing untoward in the foregoing comments ... about a trio of smelly, drunk, probably illegal hispanic immigrants using a railroad to help them walk a straight line. Anyway, this morning's butchered train-victim is tonight's dinner.

Let me guess, when the writers of the hateful comments above aren't making clever remarks about "Darwin awards," they're attacking members of other races that "don't value human life."

Gerson was a loved friend, brother and son. It is truly saddening to see how people are commenting such rude remarks to such a tradegy. Before posting any offensive remarks, please remind yourself that there is a death involved and how much pain his family and friends must be feeling. Also, before condeming anyone because of their race, think about how we are all immigrants here, except for Native Americans.

He was walking on train tracks and got hit by a train. Shocking. I'm thinking this qualifies him for a Darwin award.
