22 compete for Miss Maryland title

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Twenty-two young women are vying in Hagerstown for the title of Miss Maryland and a shot at becoming Miss America.
The winner of the pageant Saturday night at the downtown Maryland Theatre succeeds Miss Maryland 2009 Brooke Poklemba (poh-KLEM-bah), of Westminster.
Besides a sash and tiara, the winner receives thousands of dollars in scholarship money.
