1 dead after golf cart plunges into Potomac

By Washington Post editors

A Frederick man died early Sunday and two others were injured after the golf cart they were riding in plunged over a 15-foot embankment into the Potomac River, The Journal reports.

Officials say Marshall Marks, 60, of New Market, died from injuries sustained in the accident at River Bend Park near Falling Waters, W.Va. One passenger, Anthony Langston, was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The other passenger, Earl Biscotti was treated at the scene.

Langston and Biscotti's ages and hometowns were not available.

Authorities were called to the accident about 12:20 a.m. There they found that the golf cart had fallen into the river. The Berkley County Sheriff's Department said Marks apparently was trying to turn the car around on a narrow trail when he lost control.
