Brendan Looney, a former Naval Academy lacrosse player, was among the nine U.S. military personnel killed Tuesday when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Looney, who was from Silver Spring, was the oldest of three brothers who played lacrosse for the Naval Academy. He was a 1999 graduate of DeMatha where he played baseball and football. He did not play organized lacrosse until his sophomore year at the Naval Academy.
