Anne Arundel schools granted snow waiver

By Washington Post editors

Anne Arundel County public school students will not have to be in class for 180 days this year after the Maryland's State Department of Education granted the school system a waiver.

December and February's snowstorms resulted in Anne Arundel students using 10 snow days this school year. The school system had built in four snow days.

State Schools Superintendent Nancy Grasmick granted the county’s request for a five-day waiver. That means the school year will end on June 15 -- as long as there are no more closings.
