Simulated gun exercise planned for MoCo
Montgomery County officials say people near the Universities at Shady Grove may hear simulated gunfire or see public safety personnel in tactical gear this weekend, but that it is just a training exercise.
The exercise planned for Sunday morning will involve a full-scale response to a simulated active shooter incident. The exercise will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and include personnel from the county police, and sheriff’s and fire departments.
State police, Maryland National Capital Park police and officers from Gaithersburg, Rockville, Takoma Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County also will participate.
People in the area Sunday morning can expect to see personnel in tactical gear, along with their vehicles. Officers will also maintain a safety perimeter.
